We're hitting the airwaves hard in May! 10 hours of prime time television featuring my music will be aired. On May 5th and 6th PBS will broadcast George H. W. Bush, a 3 1/2 hour documentary on the elder George Bush. I was really surprised at this man's amazing career. This will be the 10th president in The American Experience series that I have scored.
On May 14th is The Adirondacks. The Adirondack Mountains are heaven to me but probably not that well known to most people who avoid cold weather and black flies. The Adirondack Park is the oldest example in this country of people uniting to preserve a great wilderness.
On May 21 Out of the Shadows will be shown. This is a show about depression and was produced by Twin Cities Public Television. As always, Bill Moyers Journal airs on Friday nights. I appreciate the enthusiastic response to this theme. Please check you local listings for times.
My brother and I are hard at work on The Bacon Brothers 5th studio CD and we shot a video with Al Yankovik , doing a video version of Philadelphia Chickens, the best selling children's book and CD. Please check our website, baconbros.com.
On February 6, African American Lives season 2 starts on PBS. -
Here are some reviews:
"African American Lives 2 is as moving, informative and fascinating four hours as you can hope to find anywhere on the TV dial.” -EURweb.com
"... entertaining and educational in the same even proportion." -LA Times
An update on The Jewish Americans is still airing and recently ranked 37 on the Amazon Soundtrack charts. -
Here are some highlights of the Soundtrack review:
"Playing an orchestral mix, including violin, clarinet, oboe, trumpet, saxophone, flute, drums, and even some accordion, the group [of ten musicians and vocalists supporting the CD in addition to Bacon] creates a mesmerizing trip that flows gracefully throughout."
"All in all, the soundtrack, a complex and multi-layered score, stands firmly on its own as a wonderful experiential piece." -David Geller, Sound Waves
On Jan. 9th, 16th and 23rd PBS will broadcast THE JEWISH AMERICANS. -
It's an amazing six hour show that shouldn't be missed. I'm
also releasing my original music from the show on Rounder Records. I
put up a few cues for you to check out, and the entire CD is available on Amazon.
In Februrary African American Lives season 2 will be shown on PBS.
I'm really happy with the and it should be a highly rated show.
Little brother and I am honing in on our 5th studio CD and have some
tour dates coming up soon. Happy New Years to all!
It's been a lot of time since I updated my news, but here goes! In August I finished the 3 hour PBS series The Mysterious Human Heart. This will begin airing on Oct 15th. I wrote the theme and background music for Bill Moyers Journal which airs every Friday night for the next 2 years. Metal of Honor about the World Trade Towers Ironworkers aired for a second time on Spike TV on Sept. 11th. I just completed work on The Jewish Americans—a six-hour series and a CD of the music will be released to go along with the show. I am at work on African American Lives II and The Adirondacks, both for PBS. My 8th President Series for American Experience will be George Bush (the father). Also airing in October on NOVA, Ghost Genes. I also completed the score for the Dupont Museum, Nemours in Wilmington. I continue to provide scoring for Inside Edition.
The Bacon Brothers Band is performing whenever we can grab the time. We’ll be in Novato, CA at the end of September, Port Washington, NY in October, and Vegas and Stamford, CT in November.
Thanks to all the kind emails in support of my music. Please note the new selections on the music page.

It's been a busy September!!
On Monday, Sept.25 the PBS Documentary "Marie Antoinette" airs (check local listings). If you want to see the non-Hollywood version of this amazing woman's life don't miss this. It's got sex, violence and pornography as her story unfolds in the hands of the master documentarian, David Grubin. Also in Sept., "Metal of Honor"-The story of the ironworkers who built the Trade Towers and had the gruesome job of deconstructing them amidst the carnage. Rachel Maguire from Chicago did this one that's airing on Spike. On Hurst/Argyle is a moving documentary called "7 Days That Changed New Orleans" By Lisa Nee. One local news station in New Orleans stayed on the air surviving Katrina's wrath. Try and get through this dry-eyed. I couldn't. Loverboy, diected by my little brother. Kev. is available on DVD now. Check it out.
